Hello, fellow Black and Red enthusiast! If you’re excited after 2018’s late-season run for D.C. United and the optimism it brings this spring – who could blame you?

The team largely returns intact, including homegrown keeper Bill Hamid, its three-headed monster of Paul Arriola, Luciano Acosta and captain Wayne Rooney up front, and the squad added promising young midfielder Lucas Rodriguez to aid the attack.

But alas, the team announced a new multi-year deal with FloSports, putting the majority of their games solely in the streaming space. For those used to watching the squad on TV this comes as a shock, but never fear, we’re here to guide you to ensure you don’t miss any of the action this season.

What’s FloSports?

FloSports is a streaming service that will air all non-nationally televised D.C. United games in addition to original content on FloFC.com. The service is available to all residents in the DMV area, extending as far south as Richmond and all the way to Delaware. They’ll offer both English and Spanish commentary, all in high definition.

Ok, so how much does it cost?

The rate depends on a few factors. If you’re a season ticket holder, partner or a member of a supporter group (Screaming Eagles, Barra Brava, etc.), the price is $5.99 per month. For all others it’s $8.99 per month.

Can I only watch online?

Nope. FloSports can be accessed by downloading its app on iOS, Roku or Apple TV 4.

Are there any other ways to watch the team?

Yes. Audi Field is located in D.C. and offers better-than-high definition views of the team for 17 home matches this season.

What if I don’t want to pay?

Well pushy, 21 of the 34 league matches will be broadcast exclusively through FloSports, so that means 13 other matches will be nationally televised, either on ESPN, Fox Sports or UniMas.

Also, that number could grow later in the season based on the team’s performance and the whims of the major networks enforcing their programming flexibility.

When does the season start?

D.C. kicks off March 3rd against defending MLS Cup champion Atlanta United FC on ESPN, where the team hopes to continue the run of results from its late season surge in 2018 and set the tone for a new campaign.

Can I borrow your password for FloSports so I can watch the games?

Liverpool held vs. Everton as delayed bid to seal Premier League title resumes

By Associated Press June 21, 2020 4:35 PM

No win for Liverpool on the longest day of the year, and an even longer wait maybe to clinch the title.

When you’ve been waiting 30 years — and then had the coronation delayed by three months because of a pandemic — patience is expected.

The quietest of the 236 Merseyside derbies, with fans denied access to Goodison Park, produced no goals as Everton held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

Liverpool is an unprecedented 23 points in front. But it is now no longer so certain that a victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday at Anfield will seal the title. That scenario will require Burnley not losing to second-place defending champion Manchester City on Monday.

But with eight games remaining, Liverpool has considerable breathing space to end the drought and win the first domestic championship since 1990.

The visitors from a mile across Stanley Park were fortunate not to lose to Everton for the first time in a decade.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side nearly won it with 10 minutes to go when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shot was saved by Alisson and a follow-up from Tom Davies hit the post.

With no crowd, there was a tranquility to an often fiercely contested derby, although Liverpool was also held scoreless on the previous two trips here.

The only football that fans could see at Goodison Park was a family kickabout against one of the stands before kickoff.

For once on derby day, the tightly packed rows of terraced housing had no fans trampling past doorsteps or scouring for parking spaces. Advice from public authorities was followed as fans largely stayed away to allow a game that police initially wanted to be played in another city to go ahead.

They didn’t miss much inside where a maximum 300 people were allowed including a small media contingent spread across small wooden seats usually occupied by fans in a stadium that first opened in the 19th century.

After a 103-day wait to return to league action for Liverpool, Joel Matip’s first-half header was the closest the leaders came to taking the lead.

At times, the dominant sound was a saxophonist’s melody filtering in from the outside on this cool evening as the Premier League was contested on the day of the summer solstice for the first time in a season that should have ended a month ago.

USMNT star Christian Pulisic scores for Chelsea in Premier League return

By Ethan Cadeaux June 21, 2020 1:30 PM

Mail To

The Premier League is back, and so is Christian Pulisic.

The United States Men’s National Team star subbed on for Chelsea in the 54th minute of Sunday’s Premier League clash versus Aston Villa, and it didn’t take long for the winger to make an impact.

In the 60th minute, Pulisic was on the receiving end of a cross from Blues defender Cesar Azpilicueta, and the American finished with a calm far-post volley past Aston Villa keeper Ørjan Nyland for the equalizer.

The goal was Pulisic’s seventh goal in 24 appearances since arriving at Chelsea from German side Borussia Dortmund this past summer.

Pulisic had previously been sidelined since January 1 with an adductor injury but was close to returning before the season was paused in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The Premier League’s resumption gives the American star a chance to rewrite the narrative on an otherwise incomplete first season with the Blues.

Two minutes after Pulisic found the back of the net, Chelsea would score once again on this strike by French forward Olivier Giroud.

Giroud’s goal would prove to be the difference, as Chelsea would hold on to a 2-1 road victory in their first league game in over 100 days.

After Sunday’s result, Chelsea currently sits comfortably in fourth place, leading fifth-place Manchester City by five points with just eight league matches to go. The Blues are just three points behind third-place Leicester City following Sunday’s victory over Aston Villa.
