RICHMOND, VA (May 5, 2020) – The ECNL Boys is excited to announce that FC Dallas Youth has joined the ECNL Boys for the 2020-2021 season. The MLS Academy addition will add more quality to a Texas Conference that recently welcomed San Antonio City, Oklahoma Energy, and the former DA programs from long-standing ECNL Boys members Lonestar SC and Dallas Texans.
“The addition of FC Dallas continues to show the strength and direction of the ECNL Boys as we continue to add clubs representing some of the nation’s greatest youth talent and a shared philosophy on player-focus,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner, Jason Kutney. “This is a significant step forward, but also one of many steps we are taking as a league in our commitment to structure an optimal environment for player development and advancement.”
FC Dallas Youth was founded in 2005, with an impressive 154 teams that facilitate competitive programming for over 2,400 boys between the ages of 7 and 19. Additionally, the club has 11 out-of-market affiliates that service the developmental needs of another 1,000-plus players.
When it comes to player production, FC Dallas has been an undisputed leader in the United States. Over the past 15 years, FC Dallas Youth has produced more than 1,500 athletes to college programs, while signing 28 players to home grown, professional contracts since 2009, the most in Major League Soccer. Twelve current first-team rostered players were developed in the FC Dallas Academy, also highest in MLS. In the past 12 months, alone, FC Dallas has had 38 male players participate in US National Team camps and competitions from the U14 category through the Full Men’s National Team.
“We’re excited to join the ECNL Boys platform in 2020-2021,” said Chris Hayden, Vice President of Youth Soccer for FC Dallas Youth. “We use competition as a method to measure player development and our entry into the ECNL will allow us to evaluate our players with the sport’s rising talent.”
